THE OPPORTUNITY

We're currently seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to oversee the operations engineering team within the Sysco IT Service Management (ITSM) team located in Sri Lanka. In this role, you'll collaborate with ITSM leads to enhance ITSM processes through task automation, tool development or acquisition, and consultation with service teams to enhance service availability. You'll also be responsible for defining global monitoring standards and managing SRE dashboards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Operations Engineering team based in Sri Lanka.
  • Own and take responsibility for the design and maintenance of the incident management and other ITSM dashboards in ServiceNow.
  • Develop or acquire new tools to help automate ITSM processes to minimize manual interaction and reduce production incidents.
  • Design, build and enhance event detection and management tools as required.
  • Work with Change Analysts to modernize the ITIL change management process, help facilitate service owners to deliver new changes to production using lightweight change management processes.
  • Understand the product/services stack and provide recommendations for product operations, change management and monitoring.
  • Work with ITSM leadership to analyze critical incidents and provide recommendations to avoid repetitions of such incidents.
  • Define monitoring criteria for service teams and onboard service teams to the Sysco centralized monitoring platform.
  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in operations engineering, software engineering, or a DevOps discipline.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Sound knowledge in Software engineering practices and the ability to review code when required; understand incident RCAs.
  • Experience working and developing with JavaScript - HTML5, Jelly, jQuery, Node and AngularJS.
  • Working experience in ServiceNow.
  • Previous working experience in Dynatrace and Datadog.
  • The ability to clearly articulate technical solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working as a part of a geographically distributed team.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in: Windows/Linux environments, SQL, Active Directory, Scripting, etc., Network troubleshooting knowledge including LAN/WAN, DHCP, TCP/IP, Firewalls, and Routing, AWS/Azure
